The Luba 3 AWD comes in several sizes that catch a lot of buyers out, because from the outside they look identical. Same body, same all-wheel drive, same 80% slope rating. The differences sit under the shell, and they decide which mower is right for your place.

Here's the short version. If your lawn is under 1,500 m² and reasonably flat, buy the 1500. If it's bigger, the grass grows fast, or you want the most accurate positioning available, buy the 3000 or 5000. Now the detail.

Lawn size is the obvious difference

The 1500 is built for lawns up to 1,500 m². The 3000 doubles that to 3,000 m² and the 5000 takes that to 5000m². This is the first thing to get right, because sizing the mower wrong causes more grief than any other mistake. The map size capacity is capped so if you need to map 3100m², a 3000 is going to leave you short.

Put a 1500 on a 2,500 m² block won't mow it all. Put a 3000 on a small courtyard and you've spent money on capacity you'll never use. Match the mower to the area and both machines do their job without fuss.

Cutting power: 88W vs 165W

This is the difference most buyers miss, and it matters more than the spec sheet lets on.

The 1500 runs 88W cutting motors. The 3000 runs 165W, close to double. In soft, dry, well-kept turf you won't notice the gap. In thick kikuyu or buffalo after a wet week, you will. The 1500 slows down and does more passes to get through it. The 3000 has the torque to push through in one go.

If your grass tends to get away from you between mows, or you're in a part of Australia where growth goes hard over summer, the extra cutting power on the 3000 earns its keep.

Positioning: this is where NetRTK comes in

Both mowers use 360° LiDAR and AI vision to map your lawn and find their way around it. No boundary wire, no digging. You walk the mower around the edge once and it builds the map.

The 3000 adds NetRTK on top of that. NetRTK pulls a satellite correction over the mobile network, so the mower knows exactly where it is, down to a centimetre or two, with no aerial to mount on your roof or a pole. The 1500 skips NetRTK and relies on LiDAR and vision alone.

For most suburban lawns, LiDAR and vision are plenty. The 1500 still mows wire-free and navigates well. Where NetRTK pays off is on bigger, more open blocks, and anywhere you want dead-straight edges and the same tidy lines every single mow. If precision at the border is what you care about, the 3000 is the one.

Battery and run time

The 1500 carries a 9.4Ah battery. The 3000 steps up to 12Ah, which means around 175 minutes of mowing per charge against roughly 135 on the 1500. On a large lawn that's fewer charge breaks and less time watching the mower head back to the dock. On a small lawn it makes no practical difference.

Zones

Zones let you split your property into separate areas, each with its own cutting height and schedule. The 1500 handles 15. The 3000 handles 30.

A simple lawn needs two or three zones. A property with a front lawn, back lawn, side strips, and island garden beds can chew through them fast. If your place is broken up into lots of separate sections, the 30 zones on the 3000 give you room to move.

What's the same on both

You're not giving up the core of the machine by going with the smaller model. Both mowers share:

So which one should you buy?

Buy the 1500 if your lawn is under 1,500 m², sits mostly flat to moderately sloped, and you keep on top of the growth. It does everything the range is known for at a lower price, and for a lot of suburban blocks it's the sensible choice.

Buy the 3000 if you've got a larger area, thicker or faster-growing grass, a property split into many sections, or you want NetRTK for the sharpest edge accuracy on offer. The bigger battery and stronger cutting motors also mean it handles a tough lawn without breaking stride.
