MOVA ViAX 500 Robot Lawn Mower: Wire-Free Mowing for Lawns up to 500m²

The MOVA ViAX 500 is a wire-free, RTK-free robot mower for typical suburban front and back yards up to 500m². It pairs MOVA's UltraEyes™ 2.0 AI dual-vision cameras with 360° LiDAR, so there's no boundary wire to bury and no RTK base station to mount on the roof. You map the lawn from your phone and it's ready to mow.

For most Sydney blocks with a couple of garden beds, a clothesline and a side path, this is the right size. If your lawn is bigger than 500m² or steeper than 22°, look at the LiDAX Ultra 1000 or the AWD models instead.

Key Features

  • Wire-free, RTK-free setup: AI-assisted mapping plus remote control in the MOVAhome app. No perimeter wire, no base station.
  • UltraEyes™ 2.0 AI dual-vision + 360° LiDAR: Cameras and LiDAR work together for positioning and to recognise more than 300 types of obstacles, including pets.
  • 2–6cm cutting height: A smart floating cutting deck follows bumps and dips in the lawn for an even finish.
  • Handles real yards: Climbs slopes up to 40% (22°), crosses 4cm obstacles and fits through passages 60cm wide.
  • Dual maps and multi-zone control: Store separate front and back yard maps, each with its own zones and schedule.
  • Five mowing modes: All-area, zone, edge, spot and manual.
  • TrueGuard™ live video and patrol: Check the yard remotely with human detection and live audio through the app.
  • Animal-friendly modes: Low-speed safety mode, custom animal activity zones and do-not-disturb scheduling.
  • Quick charge, quiet running: 60 to 80 minutes mowing from a 60-minute charge, at under 57dB.
  • IPX6 waterproof: Rinse it off with a hose after a wet mow.

Frequently Asked Questions

How big a lawn can the MOVA ViAX 500 mow?

The ViAX 500 is rated for lawns up to 500m². It mows around 120m² per charge in standard mode, or 150m² in efficient mode, then returns to its charging station and carries on once topped up.

Does the ViAX 500 need a boundary wire or RTK base station?

No. The ViAX 500 is wire-free and RTK-free. It uses AI dual-vision cameras and 360° LiDAR for positioning, and you set the lawn boundary by driving it around the edge with the MOVAhome app.

Can the ViAX 500 handle slopes?

It handles slopes up to 40% (22°). For steeper blocks, the LiDAX Ultra 1200 AWD Flex and LiDAX Ultra 2000 AWD are rated to 80% (38.6°).

What cutting heights does it offer?

Cutting height adjusts from 2cm to 6cm. The floating deck follows the ground so you get an even cut on bumpy lawns.

Is it safe around pets and children?

The UltraEyes™ 2.0 system recognises more than 300 types of obstacles, including pets. Animal-friendly modes add low-speed operation, animal activity zones and do-not-disturb times. As with any mower, supervise children and pets while it's working.

How long does the battery last?

It mows for 60 to 80 minutes per charge from a 4Ah battery, and recharges in about 60 minutes.

Can I manage separate front and back yards?

Yes. The ViAX 500 stores two maps, each with its own zones, schedules and no-go areas.

Can it mow in the rain and can I hose it down?

The ViAX 500 is IPX6 rated, so you can rinse it with a garden hose. Don't use a pressure washer.

Where can I buy the MOVA ViAX 500 in Australia?

Robot Mowers Australia sells the ViAX 500 at MOVA's recommended retail price of $1,799 including GST, with setup advice and after-sales support from our Sydney workshop.
