Mammotion LUBA 2 AWD 5000X — Wire-Free Robot Mower for Large Australian Lawns

The LUBA 2 AWD 5000X is a fully autonomous robot lawn mower designed for properties up to 5,000m². No boundary wire. No weekly mowing. Just a well-kept lawn on autopilot.

It uses GPS + RTK navigation to map and mow your property with precision — and unlike wire-based mowers, setup takes hours, not days.

What makes the 5000X stand out:

  • All-wheel drive handles slopes up to 38° (80%) — steep lawns are no problem
  • 400mm dual cutting discs with 6 blades each deliver a clean, even cut across large areas
  • 165W cutting motors — nearly double the power of the previous LUBA 2 generation
  • UltraSense AI Vision for automatic lawn mapping and obstacle detection
  • Multi-zone management via the Mammotion app — mow different areas on different schedules
  • 4G module included with 12 months of data — monitor and control from anywhere
  • Perimeter wire-free — installs without digging, trenching, or boundary cable

What area can the LUBA 2 AWD 5000X mow?

The LUBA 2 AWD 5000X is designed for lawns up to 6,000m² (1.5 acres). It covers up to 350m² per hour, giving it a daily capacity of around 4,000m² when running on a schedule. If your lawn is larger than 6,000m², you'd need to look at a multi-unit setup or a larger commercial mower.

Does it need a perimeter wire?

No. The LUBA 2 AWD 5000X is completely wire-free. It uses RTK GPS (centimetre-level positioning) combined with UltraSense AI Vision to map your property and navigate within virtual boundaries set through the Mammotion app. There's no cable to bury or install.

Can it handle slopes?

Yes — it's one of the steepest-rated robotic mowers available. The all-wheel-drive system handles slopes up to 80% gradient (38°). That covers most residential properties, including embankments, hilly backyards, and uneven terrain. It can also clear obstacles up to 50mm high, such as tree roots or small rocks. Note the slope at the lower edge of the lawn should be under 30°

How does it navigate without a wire?

The LUBA 2 uses two positioning systems working together. RTK GPS provides centimetre-level accuracy across a signal range of up to 5km. The UltraSense AI Vision system handles situations where GPS signal is interrupted — for example under trees — and keeps the mower on track for up to 300 metres without satellite signal. Once signal returns, it reconnects automatically.

Can it handle multiple separate lawn zones?

Yes. You can set up and manage up to 30 separate mowing zones through the Mammotion app. Each zone can have its own schedule, cutting height, and mowing pattern. Zones can be connected by channels — narrow paths the mower navigates between areas.

What is the cutting height range?

The cutting height is adjustable between 25mm and 70mm. You set this in the app for each zone individually, so different areas of your lawn can be cut at different heights.

Does it cut edges automatically?

Yes. The LUBA 2 AWD 5000X performs automatic edge cutting without a separate edge mode. The dual 400mm cutting discs are positioned to cut within 5-10cm of walls and garden edges in a single pass.

How loud is it?

Under 60dB(A) — similar to a normal conversation. This makes it practical to run early morning or late evening without disturbing neighbours. It's significantly quieter than a petrol mower.

Does it work in the rain?

It's IPX6-rated, which means it's protected against heavy water jets from any direction. It can continue mowing in wet conditions. It also has a rain sensor and can be configured to pause and return to base if rain is detected.

What does setup involve?

Setup typically takes 1-2 hours. You download the Mammotion app, connect the mower to your Wi-Fi or use the included 4G SIM, then use the app to map your lawn boundaries by walking the perimeter. No professional installation is required for most residential properties, though Robot Mowers Australia offers installation support if you want it done for you.

Does it need a mobile signal to work?

It includes a 4G module with 12 months of data included. This enables NetRTK positioning — centimetre-level GPS accuracy without needing a physical base station. After the first year, the 4G subscription is renewed through the Mammotion app. If you have strong Wi-Fi coverage across your property, you can also use Wi-Fi instead.

What warranty does it come with?

The LUBA 2 AWD 5000X comes with a 3-year manufacturer warranty when purchased through an authorised Australian dealer. Purchasing through Robot Mowers Australia gives you local warranty support — no dealing with overseas logistics or overseas customer service.

Warranty Terms: 3 years.
